Can your work be holy?

Spiritual Awakening

A few weeks ago, my sisters and I went up to my brother’s cabin for a sibling weekend.
We thought we were going to spend our days lying on the dock, sipping something cold, laughing until we cried, maybe reading in the sun.

Instead?
We spent every day working our asses off.

We rolled up our sleeves and dove into a full-on uplift mission.
We reorganized, scrubbed, beautified.
We brought so much love to that little cabin

And the wild part is – it felt amazing.
Like we were building a fort as kids again – all-in, joyful, devoted.
We didn’t have to do any of it.
But once we began, we wanted to.
We were moving with purpose. Together.

Then I immediately flew to Portland to remodel our spa there.
I worked 17-hour days – painting, organizing, making decisions, elevating the whole space with our team.

And I loved it.

Not because I love being sleep-deprived (I don’t).
Not because I believe that my worth depends on my productivity (I really don’t).
But because something in me comes alive when I’m putting my hands to something that matters.
When I’m in sacred service.
When I’m lifting beauty into being.  think hustle is holy

I love to rest.
I love to dance.
I love to lounge, make art, and remember that I’m a soul in a body, not a machine.

But I also love the kind of “hard” work that asks something of me –

That asks me to show up fully.
To create.
To bring joy and care into the fabric of the world.

That’s what these past few weeks reminded me.
That the hustle can ALSO be holy.

It’s not about whether you’re working or resting.
It’s about the energy you bring.

You can scrub the floor and be in prayer.
You can lie on a beach and be completely disconnected.
You can answer emails and feel lit up with love and presence.
You can perform a ritual and feel completely empty.

What matters is your intention.
Your connection.
Your joy.

This is what I’m practicing – and I invite you to practice it too:
Let everything you do – whether it’s laundry or leadership, deep rest or deep effort – be infused with spirit. With love.
With the energy of “this matters.”

Because it all does.

With devotion and delight,
Briana
